With only a few months until the US election in 2024, former President Trump is attempting to solidify a group that could be crucial: the cryptocurrency community.

Axios reports that Trump is in talks to speak at the upcoming Bitcoin 2024 convention in Nashville, Tennessee, which is scheduled for July 25–27, 2024.

The biggest Bitcoin event of the year, hosted by Bitcoin Magazine, takes place immediately following the conclusion of the Republican National Convention. Notably, El Salvador declared its intention to accept Bitcoin as legal tender at the Bitcoin 2020 conference in Miami.

Trump and his expanding Bitcoin

Given this, Trump may use this occasion to publicly address his views on Bitcoin.

In fact, the announcement that Trump will speak at this year’s Bitcoin event coincides with a growing belief in the cryptocurrency community that the former president is pro-crypto. The present government was viewed as “not good” for the business when compared to Biden’s strategy, especially in the months before Trump’s appearance as a significant proponent of cryptocurrency.

Following his discussion with prominent Bitcoin miners in the US, Trump declared that all of the remaining cryptocurrency should be mined there.

Trump declared, “I will end Joe Biden’s war on crypto,” at a recent rally. We’ll make sure that Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are produced in America in the future.

Bitcoin contributions to Trump’s campaign

Among other promises, Trump’s favorable attitude toward cryptocurrencies has helped him gain favor with the sector, leading to on-chain contributions to the Republican nominee.

The precise value of the $2 million donation made in cryptocurrency by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, the owners of Gemini crypto exchange, is not yet known.

Before the Winklevoss gift, Trump’s campaign had already received about $60,000 in on-chain cryptocurrency donations, according to data from Breadcrumbs.

The total amount donated on-chain as of right now is approximately $1,749,200, although it may go up if contributions made off-chain through exchanges become available.
